Inspections are based on regulations to eliminate risk factors for illness or injury. Every violation is coded indicating the degree of risk in causing an illness or injury.

  • Critical, Major, or Foodborne Illness Risk Factor Violations: These violations are more likely than other violations to contribute to illness or injury. Inspectors work with operators to make sure that these violations are corrected whenever feasible before they leave the establishment. A re-inspection may be scheduled to verify compliance.
  • Non-Critical, Minor or Good Retail Practice Violations: These violations are not directly related to the cause of illness or injury, but if uncorrected, could negatively affect the operation of the facility, such as maintenance and cleanliness.

Corrective action: Discussed proper wash, rinse, and sanitizing of all tabletops and toys with the person in charge. Toys were not wash, rinse, and sanitized daily in the hummingbird room. Corrective action: Discussed proper wash, rinse, and sanitizing of all toys on a daily frequency in toddler rooms with the person in charge. The sanitizer concentration measured less than 50ppm chlorine residual in the hummingbird room. Corrective action: Discussed proper sanitizer concentration of 50-200ppm chlorine residual with the person in charge.

Inspector Comments: A teacher did not don gloves prior to using a wet wipe to wipe the child while changing their diaper in the hummingbird room. Corrective action: Discussed proper diaper changing procedure with the person in charge. A teacher did not follow the manufacturers contact time for the disinfectant on the diaper changing table and re-used a cloth towel to wipe the disinfectant in the hummingbird room. Corrective action: Discussed proper contact time and diaper changing procedure with the person in charge.

Inspector Comments: Bottles of paint were not labeled as to their contents in the following classrooms: eagles, hedgehogs, and jack rabbits. Corrective action: Discussed labeling all paint bottles with the person in charge.
